About Me

Picture
My writing career started as a child, when I used to type out my own newspaper in my bedroom closet and pen my own (poorly written) poems. Since graduating from the College
of William & Mary with degrees in English and history, I’ve been writing and editing professionally for the past 23 years.

It’s a career that’s brought me from the basement of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts (where I worked for Stagebill magazine) to the D.C. offices of the Kiplinger Washington Editors to my own home in Nokomis, Florida, where I now work on a freelance basis. I’ve interviewed celebrities (Gwyneth Paltrow, Tori Spelling, Tim Gunn), business owners, artists, interior decorators, athletes, professors, and chefs while working on stories about topics ranging from cooking and home decorating to marketing and green building. I know the right questions to ask to craft a story that’s interesting, lively, insightful, and well-written. And my years spent working as an editor mean that I turn in copy that’s clean and grammatically correct (and can help clients edit the work of other writers as well). If you’re in need of a freelance writer or editor, I’d love to discuss how I can address those needs.
